The lineup

What 2 person means and the six units

A 2 person sauna is rated by bench length: enough seat for two adults side by side, which in cabins means a bench around 4 feet wide and a cabin around 4 feet by 3.5 to 4 feet inside. Two average adults sit comfortably; two large adults sit close. Units rated "1 to 2 person" (the Solara and the Pulse PRO) have a shorter bench that seats two only if they do not mind contact, and are the right pick for one person who wants room. If you are choosing between a 1 and a 2 person sauna for one user, the 2 person buys elbow room and the option to lie back; it costs more to buy and takes longer to heat. Exact interior and bench dimensions are on each product page.

Infrared cabins for two

A traditional cabin for two

Two seats without a cabin

Our steam sauna tents seat one, so there is no 2 person steam sauna here; the Traditional 5 is the two-seat option with steam. The one-person units and tents are on Portable Saunas.

Installation

Footprint, wiring and where it goes

Wiring

Five of the six run from a standard 120 V, 15 A household outlet: the Medical 4, the Durasage Hemlock, the Solara, the Pulse PRO and the Durasage 2-Person Full Size. Give a cabin its own circuit rather than sharing with other appliances, and plan the same for the 1,500 W Full Size unit. The Traditional 5 needs a dedicated 220 V, 30 A circuit for its heater, which usually means an electrician before delivery.

Footprint and height

A two-seat cabin needs roughly 4 by 4 to 5 by 6 feet of floor and about 7 feet of ceiling for assembly; the Solara is at the compact end. The Full Size fold-flat unit takes about 4 by 3 feet in use and stores a few inches thick; the Pulse PRO about 3 by 3 feet. Check door and stair clearance for the panel crates, and the exact interior, exterior and bench dimensions on each product page before ordering; we are adding them to the compare table as the manufacturers confirm them.

Floor, walls and air

Cabins go on a hard, level floor (tile, sealed concrete, vinyl or laminate) with a few inches behind the heater wall for air. Infrared cabins need no vent and no plumbing; the Traditional 5 wants a floor that tolerates a splash and the same air gap. A basement, spare room, garage or home gym all work; a bathroom works for the fold-flat units and the Solara if the floor and outlet allow. Cabins ship as kits: pre-cut hemlock panels, bench, heater or infrared panels and controls on a pallet, assembled by two people in an afternoon with no cutting.

Cost

What a 2 person sauna costs

  • Under $700, two seats, folds away: Durasage 2-Person Full Size ($649.95) and SaunaBox Pulse PRO ($699).
  • Under $3,000, a cabin: SaunaBox Solara ($2,799, full spectrum, 1 to 2).
  • $3,000 to $5,000: Durasage 2-Person Canadian Hemlock ($3,295, far infrared), Medical Sauna Traditional 5 ($4,999, electric heater).
  • Full spectrum two-seat cabin: Medical 4 ($5,199).

Within the cabins, price follows spectrum (full spectrum over far infrared), heater type and wood. Running cost is the heater draw for the session: as an estimate, the 1,500 W Full Size unit for 30 minutes uses about 0.75 kWh, roughly 12 cents at 16 cents per kWh; an infrared cabin drawing around 2 kW for 45 minutes with warm-up uses about 1.5 kWh, roughly 25 cents; a traditional heater at 4.5 to 6 kW for an hour with heat-up uses 4.5 to 6 kWh, under a dollar. Warehouse-club 2 person saunas (Costco is one retailer, not affiliated with us) land in the $2,000 to $4,000 band of our Solara and Hemlock; compare spectrum, EMF rating and who handles the warranty. Freight is free to domestic USA addresses in the lower 48; Alaska, Hawaii and international by quote.

  • Two seats under $700, or a rental: Durasage 2-Person Full Size ($649.95), which folds flat.

FAQs

What does a 2 person sauna cost?

Here, $649.95 to $5,199: $649.95 and $699 for two-seat units that need no cabin, $2,799 for the Solara cabin, $3,295 for the Durasage Hemlock, $4,999 for the Traditional 5 and $5,199 for the full spectrum Medical 4. Freight shipping is free in the lower 48 and running cost is cents per session for infrared, under a dollar for the traditional heater.

What is the best 2 person sauna for home?

For two adults who want infrared on a standard outlet, the Medical 4 (full spectrum, $5,199) or the Durasage Hemlock (far infrared, $3,295). For a traditional sauna with rocks, the Traditional 5 ($4,999). For the smallest cabin or one person with room, the Solara ($2,799). For two seats under $700, the Durasage 2-Person Full Size.

Does a 2 person sauna really fit two adults?

The Medical 4, Traditional 5 and Durasage Hemlock have two-seat benches sized for two adults side by side; two large adults sit close. The Solara and Pulse PRO are rated 1 to 2 and seat two only if they do not mind contact. Bench and interior dimensions are on each product page.

How much space does a 2 person sauna need?

Roughly 4 by 4 to 5 by 6 feet of floor and about 7 feet of ceiling for a two-seat cabin, plus door and stair clearance for the crates. The fold-flat Full Size unit takes about 4 by 3 feet in use; the Pulse PRO about 3 by 3 feet. Exact dimensions are on each product page.

Can you plug a 2 person sauna into a regular outlet?

Five of the six, yes: Medical 4, Durasage Hemlock, Solara, Pulse PRO and the Durasage 2-Person Full Size all run from a standard 120 V, 15 A outlet, ideally on their own circuit. The Traditional 5 needs a dedicated 220 V, 30 A circuit for its heater.

Is there a 2 person steam sauna or portable sauna?

Our steam tents seat one, so the two-seat steam option is the Traditional 5 cabin, which pours water on the rocks. For a portable two-seater, the Durasage 2-Person Full Size infrared sauna folds flat and the Pulse PRO is rated 1 to 2; both are on the Portable Saunas page as well.

Do you sell 2 person outdoor or barrel saunas?

Not at the moment. All six units here are indoor saunas; a garage or covered space with a standard outlet works for the infrared units, but none is built for weather.

Which 2 person sauna has red light?

The SaunaBox Pulse PRO ($699) has red light panels built in. We are confirming with SaunaBox and Medical Sauna whether the Solara and the Medical 4 ship with red light emitters and will update the compare table.
