Grounding Mats

The ground pin of a US outlet connects to a rod in the earth outside the building. A grounding mat is a conductive fabric or rubber surface with a cord that plugs into that ground pin only (the plug has no power prongs), so skin touching the mat sits at the same electrical potential as the ground. That is the whole mechanism: it replicates standing barefoot on earth indoors.

Research on grounding covers sleep, inflammation markers and comfort in small studies; the products are wellness accessories, not medical devices. Bare skin contact is what matters, so a bed mat goes under the feet or legs on top of the fitted sheet, and the grounding sheet replaces the top of the fitted sheet.

Plug the cord into the ground port of a tested, grounded outlet; never into a power socket or an ungrounded adapter. Keep bare skin on the surface. Wash sheets and fabric mats per the label with mild detergent and no bleach or fabric softener, which coats the conductive fibers; the desk mat wipes clean. Conductivity fades with washing over a year or two, which is normal.
