The technologies
How body sculpting machines work
Body sculpting equipment does not all work toward the same goal. Each technology targets a different layer, so the first decision is what you want to change: muscle, fat, skin or circulation.
- EMS and HIEMT induce repeated muscle contractions through electrical pads or a high-intensity electromagnetic field. Field strength (Tesla), applicator count and cooling are the specs to compare. See the dedicated EMS sculpting collection.
- Radiofrequency (RF) heats tissue in a controlled way for skin firmness and texture, and is often paired with EMS so one session addresses muscle and skin together.
- Ultrasonic cavitation uses low-frequency ultrasound (40 kHz on the DimaSlim HUR50) in localized fat protocols, usually with coupling gel.
- Cryolipolysis cools pinchable fat through vacuum applicators. The HS1000A reaches -16°C; the Mixslim HS1000C runs four independent handles across 21 treatment zones.
- Laser lipo and LED use low-level diode or LED paddles placed on the skin. The Maxlipo Master 10D runs ten paddles at once.
- Vacuum and rotation pull and massage tissue for cellulite and lymphatic work, as on the LiyaShape III LS15.
Multi-function platforms such as the HUR50, HS1000A and the Shape Tactics 9-in-1 systems combine several of these so a studio can offer a broad menu from one console.
Each technology has its own page: Cryolipolysis and Fat Freezing Machines, Laser Lipo Machines, Vacuum Therapy and Lymphatic Drainage Machines, HIEMT Machines and Cavitation Machines.
