The technology
How laser lipo works
Laser lipo is non-invasive, which separates it from laser-assisted liposuction performed by surgeons under the skin. Flat paddles holding low-level laser diodes (and on some systems LEDs) are strapped to the treatment area. The light, typically red around 635 to 650 nm and near infrared around 940 nm on multi-wavelength systems, is absorbed by the fat cells beneath the skin and is described by manufacturers as opening temporary pores in the cell membrane so stored triglycerides leak into the interstitial space, where the lymphatic system clears them. The client feels nothing beyond mild warmth. Sessions run 30 to 45 minutes and are usually followed by light exercise or a vacuum or lymphatic drainage pass to help clear the released fat.
Paddle count and coverage
Each paddle covers a hand-sized area. Ten paddles (Maxlipo Master 10D) wrap an entire abdomen and flanks or both thighs in one session; a six-paddle layout (Shape Tactics 6D) treats one area at a time. Paddle count is the main throughput spec.
Wavelengths and output
Red diodes target the superficial fat layer; near infrared penetrates deeper. The Maxlipo Master 10D is listed as multi-wavelength with LED pads alongside the laser paddles; the Shape Tactics 6D is an LED laser system with adjustable output. Exact wavelengths and power per paddle are being confirmed with both manufacturers (see our running supplier list) and will be added to the compare table.
