The technologies

Types of professional facial machines

A facial menu is built from a handful of technologies, and most machines in this collection combine several of them in one console. Here is what each one does.

Hydrodermabrasion

A vortex tip sweeps a stream of water and serum across the skin while vacuum pulls debris out of the pores. One pass cleanses, exfoliates, extracts and hydrates, with no downtime, which is why it is the highest-volume facial in US spas. The Shape Tactics 7-in-1 HydroSpa, 7-in-1 Hydro Facial and Plasma, 8-in-1 Hydro Dermabrasion and 14-in-1 systems are hydrodermabrasion platforms with added modes; the Winkonlaser WD40 includes a water-based mill with 4 to 5 kg positive pressure and 90 kPa vacuum alongside 16 other handles.

Microdermabrasion

Mechanical exfoliation with a diamond tip or crystal spray under vacuum. Stronger surface exfoliation than hydrodermabrasion for texture and dullness, with mild redness afterward. Included on the WD40 and on several multi-mode Shape Tactics systems.

Ultrasound, high frequency and cold therapy

Low-frequency ultrasound (28 to 30 kHz on the WD40) loosens debris and aids product penetration; high-frequency ultrasound (1.1 MHz) works at the surface. High-frequency current (0.2 to 0.5 MHz) is the classic esthetician tool for blemishes and circulation. Cold therapy (0 to 6 C on the WD40) calms the skin and closes pores at the end of a protocol.

Plasma and RF

Plasma energy and radiofrequency heat the skin in a controlled way for firmness and texture. The Shape Tactics 8-in-1 Hot and Cold Fusion Plasma and the 14-in-1 add these to the hydro protocol so one appointment covers cleansing and tightening.

EMS face lifting

The Renaface EF20 is a different kind of facial machine: synchronized EMS and RF through five handles and seven pad types stimulate the facial muscles hands-free for 20 minutes while the operator prepares the next client. It is the equipment behind "non-surgical face lift" menus.

LED

LED masks and panels finish a protocol with light therapy by wavelength. The WD40 ships with an LED mask; most hydro systems include an LED mode.

Multi-technology laser platforms

The Winkonlaser ML600 is listed here because its four handles cover facial services beyond cleansing: IPL photo rejuvenation and pigmentation, Nd:YAG carbon peel, RF skin tightening and diode hair removal. It belongs to a clinic that wants laser-grade facial work from one console. See the laser machines collection for the dedicated laser systems.

Buying guide

How to choose a facial machine for your practice

Start from your menu

If hydrodermabrasion is the service you sell most, buy the best hydro platform you can afford and let the extra modes be a bonus. If you run a full esthetics menu (cleansing, exfoliation, extraction, ultrasound, high frequency, LED), a many-handle console such as the WD40 replaces a trolley full of single-purpose devices. If your clients ask for lifting and tightening, add plasma or RF, or the EMS-based EF20.

Compare these points

  • Vacuum and flow. Hydrodermabrasion quality comes from adjustable, consistent suction and a tip that keeps the water stream in contact with the skin. Ask for the vacuum rating (the WD40 lists 90 kPa) and whether suction is adjustable per client.
  • Serum delivery. Multi-bottle systems (the WD40 has four) let you run cleanse, exfoliate, extract and hydrate solutions in sequence without swapping containers.
  • Handle count vs handles you will use. A 14-in-1 is only better than a 7-in-1 if the extra modes earn revenue. Count the services on your menu first.
  • Ultrasound frequencies. Dual low and high frequency gives depth control; single-frequency devices do not.
  • Screen and workflow. A large touchscreen with per-handle protocols (12.1 inches on the WD40) speeds up a busy room.
  • Build and power. Metal construction, 100 to 240 V operation and a 2 to 3 year warranty are what separate professional equipment from the consumer devices that dominate the search results.

By practice type

  • Solo esthetician or new studio: Shape Tactics 7-in-1 HydroSpa ($542) or 7-in-1 Hydro Facial and Plasma ($890). A full hydro protocol at the lowest entry price.
  • Spa building a signature facial: Shape Tactics 8-in-1 Hydro Dermabrasion with skin analysis ($1,292) or the 14-in-1 ($3,133) for hydro plus plasma, RF and cavitation.
  • Full-service spa or clinic room: Winkonlaser WD40 ($2,550), 17 handles with real published specs and a 3-year warranty.
  • Lifting and tightening menu: Shape Tactics 8-in-1 Hot and Cold Plasma ($3,425) or the Renaface EF20 EMS face system ($4,600).
  • Clinic wanting laser-grade facial services: Winkonlaser ML600 ($6,800).

Hydrodermabrasion vs HydraFacial

Is a hydrodermabrasion machine the same as a HydraFacial?

HydraFacial is a registered trademark of The Beauty Health Company for its branded device, serums and treatment. We do not sell HydraFacial equipment and are not affiliated with the company. Hydrodermabrasion is the generic technology: a vortex tip, vacuum extraction and serum infusion in a multi-step protocol. The branded system costs tens of thousands of dollars plus proprietary consumables; the hydrodermabrasion machines in this collection run from $542 to $3,133 and work with the serums you choose.

What you give up: the brand name on your menu and the branded serum line. What you keep: the same cleanse, exfoliate, extract and hydrate protocol, the same no-downtime result, and a session price that clients already understand. Most spas list the service as a "hydro facial" or "hydrodermabrasion facial" and describe the steps, which is both accurate and good for search.

Cost

What a professional facial machine costs

Price tiers in this collection

  • Entry, $542 to $1,292: Shape Tactics 7-in-1 HydroSpa, 7-in-1 Hydro Facial and Plasma, 8-in-1 Hydro Dermabrasion and Skin Analysis.
  • Mid, $2,550 to $3,425: Winkonlaser WD40 17-handle system, Shape Tactics 14-in-1, Shape Tactics 8-in-1 Hot and Cold Plasma.
  • Clinic, $4,600 to $6,800: Renaface EF20 EMS face system, Winkonlaser ML600 multi-technology laser platform.

Running costs

Hydrodermabrasion is consumable-light: serums and cleansing solutions (any professional line works with these systems), tips that wear over time, filters and water. Microdermabrasion needs diamond tips or crystals. Plasma, RF and EMS need conductive gel or pads. Budget an hour of cleaning and sanitation per day for a multi-handle console.

Payback

Hydro facials are commonly priced at $150 to $250 in US spas and take 30 to 45 minutes, so even the entry systems pay for themselves within a few weeks of regular bookings. The WD40 and the Shape Tactics 14-in-1 pay back on the extra services they add (ultrasound, LED, plasma) rather than on the hydro step alone.

Ownership

Licensing, FDA status, warranty and shipping

Who can operate a facial machine

Hydrodermabrasion, microdermabrasion, ultrasound, high frequency and LED are within scope for licensed estheticians in most states. Plasma and RF devices and the ML600's laser and IPL handles are regulated differently by state and may require medical supervision. Check your state board before adding a service.

FDA status

"FDA cleared" means a specific model has completed 510(k) review for a stated indication; many esthetic devices are instead FDA registered, which is a facility listing and not a clearance. Ask our team for the documentation on any model before you advertise a claim.

Training and documentation

Every machine ships with a user manual and protocols. Winkonlaser includes video instructions and offers optional technician training on selected models. Device training supports safe operation; it does not replace your esthetics license or state requirements.

Warranty and returns

Winkonlaser systems carry a 3-year manufacturer warranty, Shape Tactics systems a 2-year manufacturer warranty, with us as your US point of contact for parts and handles. Most eligible products can be returned within 30 days of delivery in original condition; see the refund policy for fees that may apply.

FAQs

How much does a HydraFacial machine cost?

The branded HydraFacial system is sold by BeautyHealth, typically for tens of thousands of dollars with proprietary serums. Generic hydrodermabrasion machines that perform the same protocol run from $542 to $3,133 in this collection, and the 17-handle Winkonlaser WD40 that includes hydrodermabrasion is $2,550.

Can I buy a hydrodermabrasion machine for my spa?

Yes. Hydrodermabrasion is within scope for licensed estheticians in most states, and the machines here ship to businesses and practitioners across the US. Confirm your state board's rules for any added plasma, RF or laser modes.

What is the best facial machine for estheticians?

For a solo esthetician, a hydrodermabrasion system with adjustable suction and serum infusion covers the most popular facial on the menu: the Shape Tactics 7-in-1 or 8-in-1 systems. For a full esthetics room, the Winkonlaser WD40 replaces a trolley of single devices with 17 handles, dual ultrasound, cold therapy and an LED mask.

Hydrodermabrasion vs microdermabrasion: what is the difference?

Microdermabrasion exfoliates mechanically with a diamond tip or crystals under vacuum, which is stronger on texture but leaves mild redness. Hydrodermabrasion uses water and serum with vacuum, so it exfoliates more gently while hydrating and extracting, with no downtime. Many spas offer both; several machines here include both modes.

Can I use these at home?

These are professional systems sold to businesses and practitioners. Consumer hydro devices exist at lower power for self-use. We do not sell consumer devices, and the plasma, RF and laser modes on some of these machines are not intended for unsupervised use.

How often do clients get a hydro facial?

Most spas recommend every 4 to 6 weeks for maintenance, or a short series of 3 sessions two weeks apart for a specific concern. There is no downtime, so clients can book before events.

Do you ship to Alaska and Hawaii?

Free shipping applies to domestic USA orders in the lower 48 states. We can ship to Alaska, Hawaii and some international destinations; contact us for a quote before you order.
