Four formats
45-degree, vertical, horizontal and hack squat
45-degree leg press and hack squat combo, $2,499
The classic gym leg press: you sit low, press a plate-loaded sled up a 45-degree track, and the same machine flips to a hack squat with padded shoulder supports. Plate loaded, so the ceiling is how many Olympic plates you own. The one most home and garage gyms buy first because it covers the press and the squat pattern in one footprint. Adjustable back pad and footplate.
Vertical leg press, $1,199
You lie on your back and press the plate-loaded platform straight up. The smallest leg press footprint by a wide margin and the lowest price, with a multi-position backrest, safety lockouts and non-slip handles. The format to pick when floor space, not budget, is the limit. Currently sold out; email us to be told when it is back.
Horizontal leg press, selectorized, $2,499
Seated and upright, pressing the platform away from you against a 250 lb pin-select stack at a 1:1 ratio. Weight changes take seconds, which suits circuits and shared floors, and the seated position keeps the torso upright rather than folded. The one unit with a published footprint: 70.87 by 44.09 by 61.02 inches, 621 lb assembled.
Power squat and V-squat, $1,999
A plate-loaded hack squat machine rather than a press: shoulders under the pads, feet on a 26 by 26 inch footpad, and the frame guides the bar path through a fixed arc with built-in safety stops for solo training. 11-gauge steel, CNC cut and robotic welded. Choose it when the squat pattern is the priority and you already own a press, or pair it with the Horizontal Leg Press for a two-machine leg station.
