Answer 10 questions about your eye, hair and skin color and how your skin reacts to sun. The quiz adds up your score and shows your Fitzpatrick skin type, from I to VI. Part of our free calculators and tools.
How it works
- Each answer scores 0 to 4 points, for a total of 0 to 40.
- Score bands: 0 to 6 is Type I, 7 to 13 Type II, 14 to 20 Type III, 21 to 27 Type IV, 28 to 34 Type V, and 35 or more Type VI.
- The questions and scoring follow the questionnaire published by ARPANSA, the Australian Radiation Protection and Nuclear Safety Agency. The skin type scale itself was developed by dermatologist Thomas Fitzpatrick.
- The quiz classifies how skin responds to sun. It is not a medical assessment.
