Staff cost default of $25/hr is rounded up from the BLS median for skincare specialists working in physician offices, $24.81/hr in May 2025 (BLS). For context, the average US med spa reported about 245 patient visits a month and $527 average spend per visit in AmSpa's 2024 industry report (AmSpa). Machine prices are typical prices for professional machines of each type sold by Longevity Based.
How it's calculated
- Cost per session = consumables + staff cost × room time + card fees on the session price.
- Profit per session = price − cost per session.
- Monthly profit = profit per session × sessions per week × 4.33 − other monthly costs. A year has 52 weeks, so a month averages 4.33.
- Sessions to break even = machine price ÷ profit per session.
- Payback is the first month when cumulative profit covers the machine. When financed, the loan payment comes out of each month during the term and the down payment is the upfront cost.
- Loan payment uses the standard amortization formula:
P × r ÷ (1 − (1 + r)^−n), with r the monthly rate and n the term in months. - Rent, owner salary, licensing and taxes are left out because they don't change with one machine. Add any share you want to count to other monthly costs.
