What to compare

Selectorized vs plate loaded, frames, footprint

Selectorized vs plate loaded

Selectorized machines (pin-and-stack) change weight in seconds, suit circuits and multiple users, and cost more. Plate-loaded machines use the Olympic plates you already own, load heavier, and cost less; you supply and change the plates. A home gym with a rack usually starts plate-loaded; a studio or team room usually goes selectorized.

Frame and build

11-gauge steel is the commercial standard and what the SFE strength line uses. Check the stack weight (250 lb here), the cable ratio (1:1), pad adjustability (the Seated Leg Extension has 9 roller and 8 thigh pad positions) and the user height range.

Footprint and delivery

Strength machines run 5 to 7 feet long and 4 to 6 feet wide; dimensions are on each listing and in the comparison table where published. Machines ship by freight on a pallet, curbside with liftgate; most need two people and basic tools to assemble. Ask us about inside delivery and assembly for facilities.

Subscriptions

None of the SFE treadmills require a subscription; the Spinning connected bikes work with third-party apps.

Choosing

Building a home gym or a facility floor

  • Garage gym, strength first: Commercial Squat Rack, FID Bench, Olympic Bench Press and the 45-Degree Leg Press and Hack Squat, about $6,300 together, then add plates.
  • Lower-body focus: Leg Press and Hack Squat, Seated Leg Extension and Curl, Hip Thrust Glute Drive.
  • Small studio or team room: Jungle Gym 4-Station, Lat Pulldown and Low Row, Pec Deck, two Spinning bikes and an Air Runner.
  • Cardio only: a motorized treadmill under $1,200, a Spinning bike, or the Air Bike and rower pair for HIIT.
  • Low impact: curved treadmill, rower, ski trainer, Pilates reformer.

FAQs

What gym equipment should a home gym start with?

A squat rack with safety bars, an adjustable bench, an Olympic bench press and a leg press and hack squat combo cover most training; the four SFE units run about $6,300 before plates.

What is the difference between selectorized and plate-loaded machines?

Selectorized machines use a pin and a built-in weight stack (250 lb on the SFE line) for fast changes. Plate-loaded machines use your Olympic plates, load heavier and cost less.

Is this commercial gym equipment?

Yes. The SFE strength line is built on 11-gauge steel with 250 lb stacks for daily commercial use, and the treadmills and bikes are commercial grade. We sell to gyms, studios and teams as well as home users.

Do you sell a leg press machine?

Four: the 45-Degree Leg Press and Hack Squat combo ($2,499), Vertical Leg Press ($1,199), Horizontal Leg Press selectorized ($2,499) and the Power Squat and V-Squat ($1,999).

How does gym equipment ship?

By freight on a pallet, curbside with liftgate, free to domestic USA addresses in the lower 48. Inside delivery and assembly by quote.

Is assembly required?

Yes on most machines, with two people and basic tools; instructions ship with each unit. Treadmills and bikes arrive mostly assembled.

Can I finance gym equipment?

Financing is available on eligible equipment; contact our team for terms. B2B orders can be invoiced.
